The residents of Somis share park lands with Camarillo and other neighboring communities. There are 26 parks in the area with amenities including sports fields, playground equipment, walking and biking paths, horse and bike trails, picnic areas and more. There are also nearby facilities for a variety of activities like a Dirt BMX Track, Equestrian Center, Skatepark, R/C Track and an Aquatic Center. The Somis Market draws many visitors and carries a variety of produce including honey, fresh eggs, herbs, flowers, fruits and vegetables all grown locally. Much of the produce comes from the Underwood Family Farms. Underwood Family Farms offers a variety of services and opportunities like pick your own berries, gift baskets, and the Somis Farm Animal Center. The animal center has a collection of animals including donkeys, alpacas and pygmy goats for visitors to watch, pet and spend time with. There is also a wonderful picnic area and wooden fire truck and sandbox to encourage young visitors to play.

The community is also home to the Saticoy Country Club rated best in the state according to Golf Digest 2013. Members of the country club enjoy its many amenities such as the club house dining and comfort options, a driving range, putting green, 18 hole golf course, golf tournaments, country club dances, swimming pool, tennis courts and more. Homes for sale in Somis are of the middle-class and upward variety, including some luxury home, estate and ranch options.

Somis is a bedroom community for the surrounding larger cities of Ventura County. There are limited employment opportunities within Somis, but it is surrounded by countless possibilities just a short commute away. Though the community’s first two schools began with a mere 17 students, today the Somis Union School District has 50 employees and more than 500 students.
